- Who are the speakers of the Religion Speakers Bureau?
Our speakers are all professors at Samford University who teach in various academic departments. At the time of the Bureau’s launch, all hold a doctorate, the highest degree in their various disciplines
- How do I book a speaker for my organization?
You can begin by browsing through the Topics page. If the title of a lecture catches your eye, click on the professor’s name for his or her information. Or you can begin at the Speakers page and read up on our speakers’ backgrounds and areas of expertise. If you wish to speak with someone to help you make a decision, call Mrs. Beth Gilbert at 205-726-2925 or e-mail her at htgilber@samford.edu.
- Is there a fee?
Most organizations offer an honorarium, and it is a good time to discuss the honorarium when booking your speaker. Honoraria may vary depending on the speaker, the organization, and the occasion. Minimum honoraria cover a speaker’s expenses in traveling to and from the place of the talk. If you would like to discuss the range in which the typical honorarium falls, call Mrs. Beth Gilbert at 205-726-2925 or e-mail her at htgilber@samford.edu.
- What sorts of organizations invite speakers of the Bureau?
Our speakers deliver talks to churches, synagogues, mosques, schools, civic clubs, businesses—any group that is interested in learning about religion should not hesitate to schedule a speaker.
