Academy of Student Pharmacists (ASP)
The Academy of Students in Pharmacy is a subdivision of the American Pharmaceutical Association. It is the student organization for all students in pharmacy. Prepharmacy students may also join. ASP holds regular business and professional meeetings, and sponsors social and service programs. "Interactions", a chapter newsletter, is also published by the Samford University chapter of this organization.
Christian Pharmacy Fellowship (CPF)
CPF was organized to provide a forum for Christian expression and growth for pharmacy students and faculty on campus. CPF meets weekly. Faculty, students, and guests lead a devotional and provide music for a spiritual time of sharing. Female students are invited to meet weekly with the "Women's Bible Study Group".
Kappa Psi is the professional fraternity at Samford. Kappa Psi pledges both male and female pharmacy students. Pledge for new members is held in the fall and spring. The fraternity is involved in professional projects and sponsors a variety of social activities throughout the school year.
Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy Student Chapter (AMCP)
The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) student chapter is an affiliate of the national AMCP organization. The student chapter of AMCP was formed to foster student recognition and understanding of vital healthcare delivery and healthcare financing processes, and systems. The organization serves clinical and economic informational needs vital to business and professional success in pharmacy practice.
National Community Pharmacists Association Student Chapter (NCPA)
This is the national specialty association for those interested in independent community practice. NCPA sponsors service projects, community work, and makes concerted efforts to acquaint students with issues pertinent to independent pharmacy.
Phi Lambda Sigma is the leadership honorary in pharmacy. Members are chosen on the basis of their activities and leadership involvement in the School after completing their first year in the professional curriculum. All Phi Lambda Sigma members must be members of ASP.
Rho Chi is the scholastic honorary for pharmacy students in the top 20% of the class. Students are selected on the basis of grade point average and overall personal integrity. New members are tapped in the fall and initiated in the spring.
Alabama Society of Health System Pharmacists Student Chapter
This organization is the student branch of the state association for hospital pharmacists. The group was formed for students to learn more about hospital pharmacy practice and to meet with practicing pharmacists to discuss issues pertinent to this field.
Student National Pharmacy Association
SNPhA is an educational service association of minority students who are concerned about pharmacy and health care related issues, and the poor minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professions. The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate and execute programs geared toward the improvement for the health, educational, and social environment of the community.
