C. Edward Cherry

Ed Cherry has been with the Samford University Library for over 20 years. For the last 15 years, he has served as the library's Systems Librarian. In this position, he is responsible for managing the university's Integrated Library System, the library's web server, maintaining and supporting personal computers for staff and public use in the library. Prior to this position, he worked as Government Documents Librarian. He has served as the Chair of the International VTLS Users' Group. He has also served as a Senator in Samford University's Faculty Senate, and on various standing committees of the Senate. He recently co-wrote an article with Della Darby and Lori Northrup entitled "Using Server-Side Include Commands for Subject Web Page Management: An Alternative to Database-Driven Technologies for the Smaller Academic Library." The article was published in the December 2004 issue of Information Technology and Libraries. In real life, Mr. Cherry is a clarinetist with a community concert band and with the orchestra at his church, Shades Mountain Baptist Church. Mr. Cherry has lectured in Course 1 on Maps and Gazetteers and assists with the Introduction to the World Wide Web sessions.
