Lecturer: Course 6
A Certified GenealogistSM with a law degree, Judy G. Russell (The Legal Genealogist) is a lecturer, educator and
writer who enjoys helping others understand a wide variety of genealogical issues, including the interplay
between genealogy and the law. She is a trustee of the Board for Certification of Genealogists, and is a
member of the National Genealogical Society, the Association of Professional Genealogists, and, among others,
the state genealogical societies of New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas and Illinois. She has been
published in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly and the National Genealogical Society Magazine,
and lectures regionally and nationally on topics ranging from using court records in family history to
understanding DNA testing.
