Lecturer: Course 2

Kimberly T. Powell is a professional genealogist, author, editor, educator, and volunteer. She is president of the Association of Professional Genealogists (2014-2015), has chaired its Professional Development Committee, and developed and continues to coordinate its educational webinar series. She also serves as assistant director of the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, and co-coordinator of its Advanced Evidence Analysis Practicum track.

Since March 2000 Kimberly has been the genealogy expert for About.com (http://genealogy.about.com), a how-to site geared primarily toward beginner and intermediate genealogists. Her latest book is The Everything Guide to Online Genealogy, 3rd edition (Adams Media, 2014). She has had articles published in BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? magazine and the Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly. She is the proud recipient of IGHR's Walter Lee Sheppard Jr. prize (2010) and the Utah Genealogical Associations' Silver Tray award for genealogical publishing (2012).

Kimberly enjoys conducting personal and client research in a wide variety of time periods and localities; her research specialties include land records, eastern North and South Carolina, and southwestern Pennsylvania.
