Lecturer: Course 9
Augusta Elmwood has been doing genealogical research in the U.S. and in France for the past 25 years.
She has held various positions in Jefferson Genealogy Society (Jefferson Parish, LA), and she started specializing
in the French colony of Saint-Domingue in 1987. She has lectured on Saint-Domingue history and genealogy at
local and national levels since 1992.
She is also founder of the Saint-Domingue Special Interest Group (1988), and editor of The Saint-Domingue Newsletter,
which she has published for the past 20 years. In addition to maintaining a database of Saint-Domingue family
names, Augusta operates a website devoted to Saint-Domingue research and methodology.
