Alvie L. Davidson, Certified Genealogist, specializes in missing persons and genealogical applications of investigations.
He became a Florida state licensed private investigator upon retiring from Naval Intelligence in the U.S. Naval Reserve
after 22 years of service.
Alvie is an alumnus of the National Institute on Genealogical Research, (NIGR) in Washington, DC (1998, 2007), and
the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) at Samford University (1999, 2000). He is the founder and
President Emeritus of the Imperial Polk Genealogical Society in Lakeland, Florida, and now serves as Chairman of the
Polk County (FL) Historical Commission. Alvie is currently serving his third elected term on the Board of Directors
of the Association of Professional Genealogists.
In addition to teaching at IGHR, Alvie is the author of Florida Land: Records of the Tallahassee and Newnansville
General Land Office, 1826-1892 (Heritage Books, 1989) and has published articles in Everton's Genealogical Helper.
He has lived most of his adult life in Central Florida, and presently resides in Lakeland, Florida. Additional
