Dr. West earned her B.A. from Birmingham-Southern College,
her M.A. from Mississippi State University, and her M.A.Ed.
from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Ph.D from
the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. She is the Academic
Director of Laboratories, coordinates the Samford in France
program, hosts a weekly French table, and sponsors the French
Club and Dobro Slovo, the Slavic honor society. Her reasearch
interests include the novels, fables, songs and culture
of Quebec. In January 2008, she was the Lillian S. Robinson
scholar-in-residence at the Simone de Beauvoir Institute
at Concordia University in Montreal where she studied the
contribution of Haitian women artists living in Quebec.
