We are pleased to welcome you to the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Our program offers tracks in print journalism, broadcast and electronic journalism and public relations.
Kappa Tau Alpha (KTA)

Kappa Tau Alpha is a national honor society for Journalism majors. Samford has only one of two KTA chapters in Alabama. Membership is by invitation only and is earned through academic excellence.

Since 1999, more than 20 JMC majors have been invited to join KTA having ranked in the top ten percent of their classes campus-wide.

KTA members are the department’s real ambassadors. They represent the best of JMC at special events like the Timothy Robinson/Washington Post speaker series, JMC Media Day, and the annual high school workshop. KTA members also work with the JMC Advisory Board and serve on special committees.
