Professor Chandra Clark

Professor Chandra Clark is a homegrown Alabama girl with a passion for broadcast news. Even though she came from a small town in Walker County, she never let that stop her from trying to make a difference in a big way.

Chandra started her broadcast career while still in high school at a low-power television station in Jasper, Alabama.  On a full scholarship, she attended Walker College where she produced and directed basketball sports shows and local programming. Then she transferred to the University of Alabama where she worked at a local Tuscaloosa TV station before it even went on the air. As an intern, she played a major role in helping pull off the station’s first newscast when Mercedes announced its decision to come to Alabama.

Following graduation at UA, she decided to work on her masters degree while she worked full-time as a producer at one of the local stations that eventually became ABC 33/40 in Birmingham. She produced the first ever newscast for the new station in 1996 and continued up the management ranks as senior producer.

After having her daughter, she decided it was time to have a schedule that allowed more family time while she continued her desire to learn more about the broadcast production industry. She joined the broadcast marketing and media department at the University of Alabama where she eventually became the assistant director. While working full-time, she taught broadcast news as an adjunct while also pursuing her PhD.  Chandra has produced national commercials, multi-media recruitment videos, and web content while also working with national broadcast networks, documentarians, and television stations from around the country.

She and her husband have an 8-year-old daughter.  They are very active in their church and have recently started the Leadership Training for Christ program for the youth. Her hobbies are scrapbooking, photography, and producing videos for fun events like birthdays, weddings, and special activities.
