Project Timothy

Project TimothyProject Timothy offers encouragement and assistance to young men and women who are enrolled in a college or university and who are pursuing a future in ministry.

Project TimothyParticipating students are paired with experienced youth pastors to explore ministry as a vocation. Through a variety of denominational, education and cultural contexts, students are challenged to examine their gifts and calling. Youth pastors sharpen their mentoring skills, young ministers gain valuable experience and local churches invest significantly in the next generation.

Project Timothy is administered by First Priority of Alabama in partnership with the Resource Center for Pastoral Excellence and Samford in Mission at Samford University. Stipends are available for internship experiences. In addition to placement in a local church, young ministers participate in a regular colloquium for further supervision, spiritual growth and practical support.

The program is open to students enrolled in colleges or universities in the greater Birmingham area. Opportunities for course credit are available to students from Samford University, Birmingham-Southern College, Miles College, the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Montevallo.

"And what you have heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well." – Paul to Timothy (II Timothy 2:2)
