Gifts for Ministerial Nourishment
If you are seeking a way to honor a beloved pastor or looking for gift ideas for a staff Christmas party...
If you would like to commemorate an anniversary or other special occasion, or provide needed resources to a minister...
If you want a gift that makes a difference in someone's life and keeps on giving...
This guide offers some options that could meet all these needs and more.
This section of the website is a way to give gifts of ministerial nourishment in honor of a beloved pastor, family member or friend. Specific gifts such as counseling services, a divinity school class, an exercise program or meals for a week will enrich the experience of a minister participating in Samford University's Sabbath Leave Program. Each person you recognize or memorialize will receive a specialized card. The card will indicate you have made a contribution to ministry in their honor.
Why Should I Contribute to this Ministry?
The Sabbath Leave Program is one of many enrichment ministries supported by the Resource Center for Pastoral Excellence at Samford University. The Resource Center was established in 2003 with initial funding of $2 million provided by the Lilly Endowment. Additional funding from the Endowment and Samford University as well as gifts from other persons and organizations will insure the Center continues offering helpful resources in the future. The mission of the center is to create opportunities for pastoral enrichment to reconnect ministers to the spiritual Source of their vocation. To date nearly 75 ministers representing six denominations including Catholic clergy have participated in the Sabbath Leave Program. Your gifts will ensure that this ministry continues for years to come.
