Dr.
Creed joins Samford this summer after eight years at Baylor.
As associate provost, he will assist with curriculum, faculty
and academic matters in the Office of the Provost.
Samford
President Thomas E. Corts described Creed as "among the
best and brightest of a new generation of Baptist educational
leaders." He added, "These times challenge institutions
that seek to be strong academically and to be just as strong
in their moral and spiritual emphasis. Dr. Creed can provide
effective leadership for Samford."
A Jacksonville,
Texas, native, Creed was associate dean of Truett Seminary
from 1993 until 1996, then dean until 2000. During that time,
enrollment increased from 48 to 247, and the faculty and staff
from four to 20 full-time members.
Creed
is a graduate of Baylor with M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has also studied
in Harvard University’s Management Development Program and
the language studies program of Academia Hispano Americano
in Guanajuato, Mexico.
