You Can't Tell a Book By
Its Edge
Dr. Thomas E. Corts
He Got Them Out
A rare swap of war prisoners resulted in freedom for 149 Allied soldiers
during the latter stages of World War II. Fifty-seven years later, 12
survivors meet the man who gained their release: Samford alumnus Gerow
Hodges '42.
Classics Coming of Age
Students studying the great themes of antiquity now do so in one of Samford's
newest departments: classics. This spring, the department graduates its
first majors.
A Critical Need
Samford's Critical Languages Program is not new, but its mission seems
more important than ever in the aftermath of September 11.
The Bumpers Take Over
Bennie and Sonya Bumpers '63 have been a team since freshman days. Now,
they're heading the Samford Alumni Association.
