Making
Samford a Better Place
Dr.
Thomas E Corts
An
Exceptional Gift
Lucille Stewart Beeson supported Samford University
generously during her lifetime. And at her death, she made provision
for gifts that will help students through the years, leaving millions
of dollars to endow scholarships for exceptional scholars.
Working
for the Common Good
Albert Brewer has been a progressive politician,
a successful lawyer and an effective teacher. Samford's 2001 George
Macon Award salutes his contributions as professor and community
servant.
New
Business Leadership
Carl Gooding, who guided Georgia Southern's business
school to new heights, will become dean of the Samford School of
Business July 1. Carl Bellas, who led Samford to business school
accreditation, is retiring.

Opening
the Free Market
Business professor Marlene Reed is taking an

formula is simple and direct, but not always easy to implement. |

Trucking
with Computers
Music graduate Tom McLeod '76 hasn't spent much
time in the cab of an 18-wheeler. But his company has become
