School Dean Timothy George is also the author of the 2001 Doctrine
Study for the Southern Baptist Convention, Amazing Grace.
Like the main
character of John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, George notes in his
preface, "We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone,
in Jesus Christ alone." He adds, "As wonderful as grace
is, it has provoked some of the most heated controversies in the
history of the Christian church."
The book looks
at some of the debates as well as the basic theme of God's grace.
Lifeway Press of Nashville is the publisher.
George has
written or edited 15 books in all. He also serves as senior editor
for Christianity Today magazine.
