Cochran, Moore Lead Veteran
Women's Basketball Team
The Samford women's basketball team surprised the experts
last year by going 19-10 in only its third season of competition.
The Bulldogs were the nation's fifth best turnaround team, improving
by 11 wins over the 8-19 mark of two years ago.
Three starters finished eligibility, including top scorer Jodi
Morris (18 points a game) and assist leader Clarissa Tomlinson
(201). But two starters return-point guard Aimee Cochran and
center Cortney Moore-along with 10 other letterwinners.
Cochran, an All-Trans America Athletic Conference Second Teamer,
started 81 straight games before a knee injury sidelined her
for last year's finale. She averaged 12.4 points, 3.8 assists
and 2.5 steals a year ago and has a chance to finish her career
with 1,000 points, 400 rebounds, 400 assists and 300 steals.
