WALTER HUTCHENS completed a joint J.D./M.A. degree in law and East Asian Studies at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo. He practices law with the New York firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and will relocate to the firm's Beijing office in January 2001. He and his wife, Xiaohong, are parents of a baby daughter, Helen Lynn.

J. DAVID PARNELL is a graduate student in nurse anesthesia at Columbia University, New York City. He earned a bachelor's in nursing at Auburn University. He and his wife, Kate, live in Manhattan.
