“...Samford University needs your help documenting Samford traditions, campus culture and anecdotes from 1841 to the present...” All schools have their traditions and stories. At Notre Dame, it’s the “golden dome” and “Touchdown Jesus.” At the University of Texas, it’s the famous “hook ’em horns” sign. At the University of Tennessee, it’s the singing of “Rocky Top.” Samford University also has some wonderful traditions and stories—our school colors, the candlelight dinner, gathering at Andrew’s near the East Lake campus, the Bulldog mascot, sledding on cafeteria trays, the Hanging of the Green, international study, mission trips and so much more. Samford University needs your help documenting these traditions as well as campus culture and anecdotes from 1841 to the present. Were you among the first residents of Vail or Smith Halls? Did you court under Sherman Oak? Was your grandmother one of the first women to attend Howard College? Did a professor change your life? We want to hear about it! Send your Samford traditions, anecdotes and suggestions to us at bltwr@samford.edu and let us know if you have photographs or other items related to your submission. We’ll review and compile the submissions and in the months ahead you’ll see some of the stories in Seasons and The Belltower. |
