Save the Date for Presidential Inauguration

Samford President Andrew WestmorelandThe official investiture of Andrew Westmoreland as President of Samford University will take place at 10 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2006. Two weeks of scholarly, social and service-related events will precede the Nov. 2 ceremony--only the third such occasion in the last half-century.

The full program of inaugural events will be announced in the fall, but a planning committee, co-chaired by William J. Stevens and J. Bradley Creed, has been working since July. Stevens, a Birmingham businessman, is chairman of Samford's board of trustees. Creed is Samford's provost and executive vice president.

The committee also includes Taylor Clement, Student Government Association president, representing students; James N. Lewis, vice-dean, Samford's Cumberland School of Law, representing the staff; Sarah C. Latham, special assistant to the president; Michael D. Morgan, vice president for university relations; and Don Sandley, professor of theatre, representing faculty.
