The
official investiture of Andrew Westmoreland as President of Samford University
will take place at 10 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2006. Two weeks of scholarly, social
and service-related events will precede the Nov. 2 ceremony--only the
third such occasion in the last half-century.
The full program of inaugural events will be announced in the fall, but a planning committee, co-chaired by William J. Stevens and J. Bradley Creed, has been working since July. Stevens, a Birmingham businessman, is chairman of Samford's board of trustees. Creed is Samford's provost and executive vice president.
The committee also includes Taylor Clement, Student Government Association president, representing students; James N. Lewis, vice-dean, Samford's Cumberland School of Law, representing the staff; Sarah C. Latham, special assistant to the president; Michael D. Morgan, vice president for university relations; and Don Sandley, professor of theatre, representing faculty.
