Samford to Graduate 314 Dec. 16

Samford University CommencementSamford University will graduate around 314 seniors during fall commencement Saturday, Dec. 16.  The program is scheduled for Wright Center Concert Hall at 10 a.m.

Dr. Chuck Sands, chair of the Samford exercise science and sports medicine department and winner of this year's John H. Buchanan Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching at Samford, will deliver the address.  His speech will begin a tradition of having the Buchanan Award winner speak at fall commencement.

The president's reception for seniors and their families will follow commencement in the main dining room of Beeson University Center.

Other Samford commencement activities will include:

  • The pinning ceremony for Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing graduates in Hodges Chapel 1 p.m. Friday
  • The hooding ceremony for School of Business MBA graduates in Brock Forum 7:30 a.m. Saturday
  • The closing reception for the graduating senior art show in Swearingen Hall Art Gallery immediately following commencement
  • The Air Force ROTC commissioning ceremony in Hodges Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, followed by a reception in the Student Commons.
