Samford in Mission and the Samford Alumni Association are teaming to present a half-day workshop geared towards recent college graduates considering a variety of careers and professional goals and concerned with finding their true calling and meaningful work in life.
“More Than Just a Job” is set for Saturday, Sept. 29, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Great Hall of Memory Leake Robinson Hall on the Samford campus. The registration fee is $40 before Sept. 21. Late registration fee is $55.
Registrants receive guidance by skilled and experienced facilitators, a life skills workbook and other workshop materials, one year access to Samford online job postings, lunch and break refreshments.
“Participants will be guided through a process of exploring their gifts, assessing their abilities, and beginning to find the right place for them in the world,” said Bill Blackerby, with Birmingham Episcopal Campus Ministries. Michael Wilson from Samford’s Resource Center for Pastoral Excellence will facilitate the program with Blackerby.
“This is not a resume-writing, how to apply and interview for a job session but rather a deeper discussion of how you are uniquely designed to fulfill a need in the world,” Wilson added.
Samford in Mission is a 5-year grant program funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc., programs for the theological exploration of vocation. Samford’s program engages students, faculty, staff and alumni in academic, student and community development programs designed to facilitate the exploration of mission and vocation.
