Annual Philanthropy Dinner, Oct. 6, 2005, HealthSouth Conference Center, Birmingham

Robert Holmes of Birmingham was master of ceremonies for Samford University’s annual Philanthropy Dinner honoring donors to the University during the 2004-05 fiscal year. Holmes, a senior executive with Alabama Power, is chair of the board of trustees’ University Relations committee.

Samford junior Katie Lantz from Lytton, Iowa, offered the invocation at the Samford Philanthropy Dinner. Lantz is a member of Samford’s championship cross country team and serves as a Samford Ambassador.

A Cappella Choir alumni join current choir members on stage, fulfilling a decades-old tradition of singing an arrangement of “Beautiful Savior” as the choral benediction for Samford University’s 2005 Philanthropy Dinner.

Samford University President Thomas E. Corts thanks donors for their gifts during the past year and encourages them to continue to fulfill “the promise” during the University’s annual Philanthropy Dinner.

Nena Sanders, dean of Samford’s Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing, spoke of the impact of past donors in ensuring the current success of Samford’s nursing programs, which recently received national recognition from the National League for Nursing.

Zachary Harter, a senior from Acworth, Ga., represented the Samford University student body in thanking attendees at the Philanthropy Dinner for their support to the University.

Joseph and Jenna Cassese of Birmingham are recognized during the Samford Philanthropy Dinner for a recent gift to the new music building under construction on campus. Mrs. Cassese is a Samford trustee.
