| Amanda Spikes (far left),
student coordinator for Samford's Habitat for Humanity, represented
the University Dec. 1 in the ceremonial goundbreaking for this year's "Home
for the Holidays" building project in Birmingham. The project,
coordinated by Habitat and the local ABC television affiliate, involves
10 corporate sponsors whose volunteers build a Habitat-sponsored house
in 10 days as a holiday gift for a local family. |

Even as groundbreaking ceremonies were being held,
volunteers already were laying the foundation for this year's "Home
for the Holidays" Habitat for Humanity house in the Ensley area
of Birmingham. Samford students, employees and alumni will work on the
house Saturday, Dec. 11. |
