- Duties:
The main objective of this position is to support the learning and research endeavors of students and faculty in areas such as:
- Support of online learning management systems.
- Creation and delivery of content for learning and research activities in a variety of formats.
- Classroom use of technology.
- General access computer laboratories.
- Assess, on an ongoing basis, the effectiveness of the services provided by this group.
- Maintain an inventory of the equipment supported by this group.
- Work with vendor representatives as needed to resolve questions/problems or to develop new technologies.
- Manage and mentor the members of this group.
- Work closely with other members of the Technology Services staff to coordinate activities.
- Take a leadership role in assessing technology support needs and responding to them.
- Inform the Samford community, especially faculty and students, of the support services available.
- Stay abreast of current trends in University environments by attending conferences, professional meetings and seminars and by reading appropriate journals.
- Incorporate at Samford the ideas gained by these activities.
- Continually enhance own professional skills.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technology-related discipline.
- At least three years in the support of technology in academic use;management experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong commitment to Christian principles.
- Ability to work harmoniously with and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, administration, and students
- Ability to work cooperatively and supervise the work of others.
- Knowledge of all phases of technology support services, particularly as related to the application of technology to the learning and research environment at the university level.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
