George Irons & Bob Hope
Two distinguished Americans, two great comedians are joined at the Hall of Fame - George Irons and Bob Hope. Dr. James Moebes, renowned minister, Mountain Brook Baptist Church, described Dr. Irons as "one of the funniest men he ever knew" and signed up for his History classes to enjoy his humorous style. Bob Hope, King of Comedy, was inducted as First Distinguished American in the Hall of Fame. His famous golf club, used to entertain the troops in Korea with Marilyn Monroe was enshrined in the Hall. Bob Hope and George Irons were the same age. Hope and Irons--both comedians, both entertaining, both distinguished Americans, both heroes enshrined in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
