George Irons & Bobby Bowden
Dr. Irons welcomes former Samford student and fellow faculty member (Head Football Coach), Bobby Bowden, to the Hall of Fame in 1986. Bowden was Little All-American at Howard in the 50's and is chasing hard Bear Bryant's All-Time Collegiate Record. Dr. Irons is the only track and distance star ever inducted from the University of Alabama.
Dr. Irons with former Samford Little All-American quarterback, Bobby Bowden, enjoying electrifying excitement of Bobby's induction in the Hall in 1986. Bowden's teacher, Dr. Irons, led the way into the Hall of Fame 8 years earlier in 1978. Bowden is fast closing on the immortal Paul 'Bear' Bryant's record of 323 collegiate coaching victories. Bowden is former Samford Head Football Coach.
