My name is Adam Gadberry, and I am the President for the Alabama Gamma chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Samford University. I am glad that you have chosen this University to be your home for the next four years, and it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Samford campus and community. While you will undoubtedly find numerous activities to occupy your time while at college, I would whole-heartedly encourage you to seriously consider investigating Greek life for yourself, and our organization in particular.
Many of you may be like I was as an entering freshman; I knew nothing about fraternities when I went off to college, and what I knew wasn’t necessarily pleasant. Let me assure you that our fraternity is different. We are men of distinction and class, striving always to adhere to the cardinal principles of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love. Alabama Gamma is also committed to giving back to the community. We participate in several philanthropies in the Birmingham area and are partnering with Habitat for Humanity in the fall. We also contribute to Youth AIDS research nationally. Social events are also an important part of the fraternity. We have a full social schedule including several parties a semester as well as swaps with the sororities on campus and brotherhood retreats and camping events. SigEp is currently the largest fraternity in the nation with over 255 active undergraduate chapters and 14,000 undergraduates. Our alumni base has over a quarter of a million alumni, making it one of the largest in the Greek world, which allows for excellent networking opportunities.
I hope to see you at our events planned for this fall, and that through these you will see the SigEp difference. More info about our national organization can be found at http://www.sigep.org/join/default.asp.
From the brotherhood of the Alabama Gamma chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon, welcome to Samford, and may these be among the best four years of your life.
Sincerely,
