The Iota Chapter of Sigma Nu is proud to be the oldest fraternity on Samford’s campus. Established on campus in 1879, the Iota Chapter has the
longest continually standing charter in the nation. Throughout the past 123 years, Sigma Nu has maintained a distinctive place on campus. We pride ourselves on our selective nature and close-knit brotherhood. The men in our fraternity are committed to succeed in academics, athletics, and Christian growth. Our chapter strives to invest in Samford and the Birmingham community. Brothers in our fraternity are involved in many organizations throughout Samford’s campus including Student Government Association, Senate, Samford Ambassadors, LEAD Scholars, Orientation Leaders, Interfraternity Council, various professional fraternities and honor societies, Bible studies, football, baseball, and track. We are also devoted to our philanthropy, Big Oak Ranch.

Our national alumni include men such as
Paul “Bear” Bryant,
Harrison Ford,
Archie Manning, and
Charles Schwab. Sigma Nu at Samford has produced many leaders, scholars, doctors, lawyers, theologians, and athletes. Honor is the essence of our brotherhood and, even with a diverse group, it is still the principle most coveted by Sigma Nu. By holding our ideals and principles in the highest regard, our brotherhood is greatly enriched. The concrete foundation established by our alumni enables the Iota Chapter to venture into the future with the greatest expectations.
