Samford for Life is an undergraduate initiative to promote an awareness of the importance of giving to Samford University. As current students experiencing the gifts of our alumni, we must begin to take responsibility for future generations. As alumni, we are accountable for the continual success Samford achieves.
All donors to Samford University may support any area they choose. The Samford For Life initiative is highlighting three areas that will directly benefit students.
- A need-based student funded scholarship.
- A Student Emergency Assistance Fund to assist students in times of need.
- A student recreation center across Lakeshore Drive between the intramural and soccer fields.
Tuition revenue only covers 57% of what the University takes in annually. Another 14% is covered by investment income (our endowment) and roughly 11% is contributions of alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations. The remaining 18% is made up of gifts from the Alabama Baptists (4%) and miscellaneous income (14%). To keep tuition from rising, we must increase the percentage of contributions from alumni, parents and friends.
Samford For Life asks that you make a gift in the amount of your class year to begin this annual tradition upon graduation.
As so many of you have benefited from the generosity of those who came before you, your gifts will provide opportunities for future generations of Samford students.
Every day, people connected to Samford University make a difference by supporting areas that they love. Talk to your professors and ask what needs they may have to enhance the departments that have made a difference to you. You can always give in honor or memory of someone who has truly shaped your Samford experience.

I am an International Relations major, and I had the opportunity to study abroad with Samford this summer in Germany. My experience with Samford abroad changed my life. With money raised from alumni, I received a scholarship from the World Languages Department that allowed my dream of study abroad to come true. Thank you all so much for your gifts to Samford. I can really say that it has affected me and has made my college years even better!
