Alumni Association Wish List

  • Scholarships – To make the distinctive Samford experience available to deserving students, Samford annually awards scholarship assistance. We need your help to increase the amount of funds available and provide opportunities for additional students. You can help in several important ways:
    • Annual Scholarships - Gifts of any amount provide support to the General Scholarship Fund and benefit all students. One way to help generally is to support the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund - All students are eligible for this award. There are also opportunities to fund named annual scholarships above the $1,000 level that provide immediate funding for a deserving student.
    • Endowed Scholarships - Gifts of $25,000 or more endow a named scholarship fund. These gifts are invested and a percentage of the earnings are dispersed annually to a deserving student.
    • Endowed Athletic Scholarships - Moving to the Southern Conference for athletic competition is an exciting time for Samford.  One goal is to endow scholarships for all athletic teams. This is an excellent opportunity for alumni who competed in specific sports to come together to support current student athletes.
  • Secure 100 lifetime commitments for Samford – The Office of Gift Planning can help you make estate plans that can benefit you, your family members and Samford today and in the future.  In securing 100 new commitments for individuals to include Samford in estate planning we can in turn provide 100 new endowed scholarships for worthy students.
  • University Fellows Program – A revised version of the Honors Program, the University Fellows program launched in 2008.  At the close of the inaugural application process, we received approximately 190 applications for this innovative new program, and we accepted 40 freshmen who began their work at Samford in the fall of 2008.  The academic achievements of these students are outstanding with an average ACT score of 31. Gifts to the Fellows program support a group of extraordinary Samford students.
  • Schools and departments - Each school and department on campus has specific annual needs. By designating your gift to one area you are directly affecting the experience of a student within that field of study.
