CWL Minors

The CWLS minor offers a student the opportunity to choose courses from a wide range of disciplines, including religion, history, business, sociology, and psychology. The goal of the minor is to enhance a student’s own leadership experiences and engage the student in a dialogue regarding the importance of faith in developing as a leader in one’s chosen field. The minor matches well with a wide variety of majors.

Pope-Levinson PR photo Marie NeSmith Fowler Lecture Series
March 31, 10 AM, Reid Chapel, Samford University

Guest Lecturer Priscilla Pope-Levison [bio page]

Throughout the generations of American religious life, a flurry of women evangelists have criss-crossed America to preach the gospel in the face of opposition and ridicule. Dr. Priscilla Pope-Levison, a leading scholar in this field, has uncovered fascinating primary sources—sermons, articles, diaries, letters, speeches, and autobiographies—in order to bring these women to life. She will lead us to discover the unconventional ways in which many of these women experienced the call to evangelistic ministry, the novel and traditional methods they adopted as evangelists, and the impressive institutions they founded, including schools, institutes, denominations, and churches, many of which are still part of the American religious scene. In her lecture, Dr. Pope-Levison will offer a lively and intimate perspective on the experiences, methods, and institutions which characterize this impressive cadre of American women.
