
Samford University Portal
The Office of Communication is responsible for the content of the Samford University Portal. Computer and Telecommunication Services maintains the server and programming aspects. Services with which our office can help you through the portal are campus announcements, personal announcements and online group requests.
Campus Announcements
Campus announcements appear in the Campus Announcements section of the portal for everyone with access to the portal. Please send the text of the announcement to Donna K. Fitch via email only. Specify the following:
- the title for the announcement (limited to 50 characters)
- the body of the announcement (limited to about 155 lines)
- desired posting date
- desired expiration date
Personal Announcements
Personal announcements appear in the Personal Announcements section of the portal for everyone fitting a particular role, such as Student, Alumni or Employee. Please send the text of the announcement to Donna K. Fitch via email only. Specify the following:
- the title for the announcement (limited to 50 characters)
- the body of the announcement (limited to about 155 lines)
- e-mail delivery, portal posting or both
- desired posting date
- desired expiration date
Online Groups
Online groups for clubs, affiliations or interests can be set up within the portal. Each group has a home page within the portal that includes the following features:
- photo album
- links
- news articles
- message board
- announcements
- file sharing
- calendar
To set up an online group, log in to the portal. Click the Groups icon in the upper right corner and click on the Create Group link or the Create Group tab. Fill out the form, then click the Create Group button at the bottom of the form. You should receive an email within a few days letting you know that your request has been approved. When your group has been created, it will appear under the My Groups tab.
