mlwimber@samford.eduMary Wimberley holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Alabama. Prior to joining the Samford public relations staff in 1974, she worked at Alabama daily newspapers in Cullman, Athens and Decatur.
At Samford, she writes and places news and feature stories with external media, and serves as a link with print and broadcast reporters and editors. She is on the staff of Seasons alumni magazine.
Wimberley is an active member of Religion Communicators Council, Alabama Media Professionals (National Federation of Press Women), and Rotary International. She is a former member of International Association of Business Communicators. She is also involved in various community and cultural support organizations. Wimberley recently won a first-place award for a feature story submitted in 2007 Alabama Media Professionals competition.
