dkfitch@samford.eduDonna K. Fitch has worked at Samford University since 1988. She has been in the office of university relations since 2000, as the division's first web designer and editor and then as web content administrator. She came to the division from the Samford University Library, where she held various positions for 12 years, including catalog librarian, reference unit coordinator and bibliographic instruction librarian, and served on the web team. She helped create one of the first websites, library.samford.edu, under the Samford domain in 1994, and is a past president of the Alabama Library Association. She taught web design for several semesters as an adjunct professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. She is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Religion Communicators Council. She received the 2002 CASE District III Special Merit Award and the 2001 Crystal Quill Award of Merit from the International Association of Business Communicators/Birmingham Chapter for the redesign of the Samford University Home Page.
Ms. Fitch graduated with high honors from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a B.A. in Art (Printmaking specialty), and received a Master of Library Service from the University of Alabama. Among her professional publications are "Continuous Assessment of the Academic Library: A Model and Case Study," in Delmus E. Williams and Edward Garten, eds. Advances in Library Administration and Organization, vole 13, 1995; "Turning the Library Upside Down: Reorganization Using Total Quality Management Principles," co-written with Jean Thomason and Elizabeth Crabtree Wells, Journal of Academic Librarianship vol. 19, no 5 (November 1993): 294-299; and "Job Satisfaction Among Support Staff in Alabama Academic Libraries," College & Research Libraries 51 (July 1990): 313-320 (the initial paper for which she received the EBSCO Award for Excellence in Library Research in 1989).
She edited The Thematic Catalogue of the Musical Works of Johann Pachelbel (2004, Scarecrow Press), written by her late stepfather, Jean M. Perreault. Ms. Fitch has served as the membership database maintainer for the Horror Writers Association, of which she is a member, since 1999. She serves as volunteer worship minister for Mayberry Baptist Church, Pea Ridge, Alabama.
