Our Faculty
We have outstanding faculty members who are expert teachers and hold degrees from some of the finest doctoral programs in communication: Illinois, Iowa, Purdue, Georgia, and Alabama. We've won eight awards for our teaching and a number of different awards for our research and professional activities. One of our faculty members is currently serving as Dean of the Howard College of Arts and Sciences.
Our faculty, along with our students, work hard to build a strong sense of community not only in our classes, but in the department itself. Students who join our major report feeling at home within the department-faculty take the time to get to know you as a person.
Here's an odd fact about our department: we boast quite a menagerie of pets. We found it interesting that we included the all-important family pet in our biographies (in addition to our children, of course)! Our department mascot, Sparky the Beagle, is owned by Dr. David Dedo.
