The Samford Greek system along with the Office of Community Service has made a three year commitment to serving the students at McElwain Elementary School.
Greeks from Samford help by providing an after school tutoring program, assisting with PTA fundraisers, mentoring students one-on-one, meeting facility needs, and updating technological needs within the classroom

"With the highly publicized condition of the Birmingham School System, members of Greek Life at Samford see an opportunity to give back to the community in this unique way through a lasting commitment not just a temporary fix and run approach to community service."
"Resources such as dvd players, books, art supplies, athletic equipment, freshly painted rooms, additional tutoring opportunities and mentoring can be seen as luxuries a school can not afford. Sadly knowing these conditions are often a school reality, the students at Samford University want to try and make a real, measurable difference at McElwain."
