Samford’s Brock School of Business establishes Office of Executive Education; Bruce Nichols named its director
Birmingham, Ala. – In keeping with its institutional mission to serve as a thought leader in the business community, Samford University’s Brock School of Business has established the Office of Executive Education effective immediately. Bruce Nichols, former director of executive education for the UAB School of Business, has joined the Brock School to lead its efforts in the area. Before his stint with UAB, Nichols spent a career with the Southern Company in various human resources and corporate training roles, retiring in 2000 as Director of Human Resources.
“Bruce has built a number of successful programs at top-notch companies in the Southeast and we are thrilled that he will be heading our new executive education initiatives,” said Beck A. Taylor, dean of the Brock School of Business. “With the establishment of our new Office of Executive Education, which will work with organizations and individuals to address functional and training needs, we are addressing a gap that the business community wants fulfilled. Bruce is helping us achieve that goal.”
Such non-degree continuing and executive education opportunities will complement the Brock School’s Evening MBA program which provides quality and convenient programming for degree seeking students. Offering an array of both degree and non-degree programs, as well as custom programs for businesses, allows the Brock School to address the various needs of the modern organization and executive.
“Helping individuals and organizations succeed is my passion,” said Bruce Nichols, new director of executive education. “Joining the Brock School of Business in executive education allows me to work with individuals and companies throughout the region and to continue to pursue my passion.”

About the Brock School of Business at Samford University:
The renaming of the Samford School of Business to the Brock School of Business in December 2007 is the latest in a long history of achievements for business education at Samford, which has offered degrees in business and commerce since 1922. In 1965, the School of Business was established to offer both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business. Alabama’s first part-time master of business administration degree program was established at Samford, and the first MBA degrees were awarded in 1967. The master of accountancy degree was approved in 1995. The business school was fully accredited by AACSB International in 1999, a recognition earned by less than 10 percent of business schools worldwide.
