Peterson is the senior vice president of CSIS, and director of the Global Strategy Institute.
Peterson directs the Institute’s program called seven revolutions- designed to identify and analyze some of the key challenges that policy makers, business executives, and other leaders will face in the future.

Birmingham, Ala. -- Global strategist, Erik Peterson will present Samford University with his “seven revolutions” in global society by 2025. The lecture is a part of the Frances Marlin Mann Center’s A. Gerow Hodges Lectures on Ethics and Leadership and will take place in Brock Recital Hall at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24. Peterson’s lecture parallels with the Mann Center’s commitment to address challenges in global society.
Peterson is highly respected internationally as the director of the Global Strategy Institute and the senior vice president at CSIS, the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington D.C. Peterson is the author of several books and has been a key note speaker in 14 countries. Peterson serves as director of the Institute’s Seven Revolutions Initiative, a program designed to forecast future trends in international society by the year 2025.
Peterson will speak to students, faculty, and business leaders about seven trends or “revolutions” by 2025 including population, technology, conflict, resource management, governance, information, and economic integration. “Peterson’s insights are relevant and necessary for all students as they will enter into an increasingly global workforce,” said Dr. John Knapp, director of Samford University’s Frances Marlin Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership.
Peterson has addressed audiences all over the globe with his innovative insights on the world’s future challenging future leaders to consider long-term trends.
“We want all our students to have a realistic outlook on the global society so that they can become effective leaders with clear vision, and we think Peterson’s presentation will only aid in this effort,” said Dean of the Brock School of Business Beck.
