What are Best Practices?
Best practices are a set of guidelines made by committee to ensure that all campus websites meet certain standards, including graphic standards, navigational consistency, accessibility and accepted conventions.
Samford's best practices are based on current web standards, Section 508 Amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Why use Best Practices?
- Best practices ensure that your website is usable and accessible.
- Best practices also ensure that your site is backwards and forward compatible, and will work in multiple browsers on multiple devices and operating systems.
- Websites that use best practices will also be search engine friendly, making the information on your site easier for people to find.
Who should use Best Practices?
There are best practices guidelines for every level of the web development process, from designing the website to publishing and updating the content on your site.
