Samford Gallery Features Works by Ted Whisenhunt
Samford University Art Gallery features work by Alabama artist Ted Whisenhunt through September 24.
The exhibit includes painted wood and mixed media sculpture.
Whisenhunt, art department chair at Judson College in Marion, notes that his recent works are inspired by the spirituality and folklore of Alabama's Black Belt.
One such piece, a mixed media installation entitled "Sanctuary," shows 60 trees surrounding a simple, rustic house. The work, says the artist, "explores the idea of protection from both real and imagined fears."
