Subject of ‘`Bama Girl’ film now Samford SBA President
Jessica Thomas, Student Bar Association president at Samford’s Cumberland School of Law, is the subject of a critically acclaimed new feature documentary film, `Bama Girl. The film, by director Rachel Goslins, follows Thomas as she tries to become Homecoming Queen at the University of Alabama, running against cultural expectations, racial politics and the secretive, influential “Machine” at the heart of UA student government.
`Bama Girl has been presented at film festivals throughout the U.S., and Birmingham’s Tenth Annual Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival (Sept. 26-28) has honored the film as its closing night selection.
