Model UN Team Honored in Czech Republic
Samford's eight-member Model United Nations earned several honors at the National Model UN Conference-Europe in Olomouc, Czech Republic in November. Devon Arnold, Andrew Mays, and Clay Menefee received Honorable Mention for their representation of Ireland. Samford students representing Ireland, while those representing Slovenia, Head Delegate Kathleen Artman, Martin Bunt, Jayme Cloninger, Thomas Espy and Hillary Sawyer earned the Distinguished Delegation award for their representation of Slovenia. Samford Political Science professor Andrew Konitzer—the team's sponsor, trainer, and trip organizer—said the group is "the best team we've had yet". Samford teams competed previously in China, Ecuador, Serbia, and New York City. The current team will compete again in New York in spring 2011.
