Classics Alumna Named Outdoor Person of the Year
Samford Classics alumna Jennifer Pharr Davis `04 has been named Outdoor Person of the Year by Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine for her record-setting 2, 175 mile hike of the entire Appalachian Trail.
An interview in the magazine’s Nov. 2008 issue (follow link below) reveals the motivations, trials and lessons of Davis’ supported speed record hike of 57 days, 8 hours and 35 minutes. The magazine noted that although Davis averaged an impressive 37.9 miles per day, she hiked almost 65 miles on one day of her journey.
