Samford Bands to Present Holiday Music Tonight
Samford University Bands will present a program of traditional and familiar Holiday tunes at its Christmas concert Friday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Brock Recital Hall. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Dr. James Smisek conducts the 62 musicians in the Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Band.
The program will open with "Fanfare" in the High Renaissance tradition of antiphonal brass choirs echoing one another, and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," adapted from the Mannheim Steamroller CD, A Fresh Aire Christmas.
Leroy Anderson's "A Christmas Festival," medley includes "Joy To the World," "Silent Night," and other Christmas favorites.
The program also includes "O Magnum Mysterium," "Good King Wenceslas, "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," and "Sleigh Ride."
