Angel Named Health Educator of Year
Dr. James B. Angel of Samford’s Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education and Professional Studies was named the 2009 Health Educator of the Year by the Alabama State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (ASAHPERD). He was honored at the ASAHPERD annual meeting Nov. 15-17 in Hoover, Ala.
Professor of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine and Associate Dean for Budgets, Dr. Angel has served on the Samford faculty since 1984, teaching courses in personal and community health, exercise physiology, and sports nutrition.
He also serves as a pre-health professions advisor at Samford, is a member of numerous local community boards, and speaks regularly to churches on the important link between health and faith.
Angel holds a B.S. degree from the U.S. Naval Academy, M.A. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.
