"Chopped" Winning Chef Briscione and Wife To Lead Homecoming Parade
Chef James Briscione ’01 and his wife Brooke will serve as Grand Marshalls for the 2009 Thomas E. & Marla Corts Homecoming Parade Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.
Briscione, a chef instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, will conduct a culinary demonstration with Samford chef Chris Vizzina during homecoming. The two will show off their cooking talents Friday, Nov. 6, at 5:30 p.m.
Briscione recently took his star turn on The Food Network show Chopped, where he walked away as champion. He moved to New York after a four-year stint at award-winning chef Frank Stitt’s Birmingham restaurant Highlands Bar and Grill. He worked first in New York at Restaurant Daniel, a private dining room catering to international elite dinner parties. He was featured in the Great Regional Chefs of America dinner at the James Beard House in 2005.
