German Consul General to Speak Nov. 6 at Samford
Christoph Sander, the new Consul General of Germany to Atlanta, will speak at Samford University Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. in Divinity S001. The program, sponsored by Samford's office of international initiatives, will be open to the public free.
Sander, a career foreign officer for the Federal Republic of Germany, began his assignment in Atlanta in August. He is the German government's representative to Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina. He will be accompanied at Samford by Michael Johnson, honorary consul of Germany to Alabama.
Sander began his career in 1983 following his graduation with a law degree from the University of Hannover. He has served assignments in Bonn and Berlin, Germany; New Delhi, India; Islamabad, Pakistan; Budapest, Hungary; Caracas, Venezuela; and Chicago, Ill.
Prior to his Atlanta assignment, Sander was deputy head of mission and head of economic section in Caracas for three years. In his previous U.S. assignment, he was deputy consul general in Chicago during 1992-1996.
Sander is a native of Dusseldorf, Germany.
