Free ‘Art and Design Day’ To Welcome High School Students Nov. 10
Samford’s School of the Arts will host a free Art and Design Day for prospective students in fine art, graphic design and interior architecture Saturday, Nov. 10. High school juniors, seniors, and transfer students interested in majoring in fine art, graphic design, or interior architecture are invited to take two workshops taught by Samford faculty and spend a day in the School of the Arts.
8 a.m., Brock Recital Hall Lobby
Check-In. Students and families will receive detailed schedules with specific workshop locations, campus maps, and lunch tickets. Light breakfast items and refreshments will be available in the Brock Recital Hall Green Room.
8:30 a.m., Brock Recital Hall
Welcome session with School of the Arts Dean Joe Hopkins.
9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Morning Session Workshops
- Watercolor (BBS Room 330)
- Digital Imaging for Graphic Design (BBS Room 217)
- Chalk Drawing (BBS Room 157)
- Digital Communications for Interior Design (Interior Design Area)
10:30 a.m., Art Gallery
All students meet with faculty
11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., University Center Cafeteria
Participants and families have lunch with faculty and current students
12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m., Afternoon Session Workshops
- Presentation of Work / Mat Cutting (BBS 330)
- Photoshop (BBS 217)
- Photography (UCA 311)
- Architectural Rendering (Interior Design Area)

Participants also may choose to participate in evening events Friday Nov. 9, including dinner with School of the Arts faculty and students and a performance of King Lear (two free theatre tickets provided, more available for purchase).
