Lawhons Win Belmont's Encore Award
Samford music professors Sharon and Daniel Lawhon were honored with Belmont University's 2010-2011 Encore Award Sept. 28 in Nashville, Tenn. Sharon Lawhon is Associate professor and Chair of Samford's Voice Department. Dan Lawhon is Assistant Professor of Organ and Church Music.
The award is presented annually to Belmont School of Music alumni in recognition for "outstanding professional contributions as classical performers, educators and clinicians." The Lawhons are the first couple selected for the honor.
After receiving the award at Belmont Heights Church, the Lawhons performed a joint organ and voice recital.
